Hi there!
Thanks for stopping by. We are Sergey and Jenia, and we created this website way back when in March 2010 when we bought our Victorian row house in Bloomingdale neighborhood of Washington DC. The blog is meant for us to keep track of the renovation process of our home, and to keep our friends and family in the loop about our adventures. Initially a tumblr, we’ve evolved to a wordpress site, given how much content we were producing.
Since 2010, we have done Phase I and Phase II of renovation, and are currently gearing up for phase III. In the first few years, we did a lot of painting, minor modifications to make the house more live-able (such as breaking down fake drywall walls and removing carpet) and installed A/C. During phase II, we gutted the kitchen and both bathrooms. Now we have pretty awesome space.
We took a break for a bit, but rather than enjoying the fruits of our labor, we closed up shop, packed our bags and turned over our house keys to complete strangers (with good credit). We headed out to travel the world for 14 months, and kept track of our adventures over at House to Laos.
Now that we are back, we are ready to tackle Phase III Renovation — adding a master bathroom, digging out and finishing our basement, and setting up our backyard. We will be live blogging the whole processes, so stop by often. You can also find us over on facebook, pinterest, and our personal insta/gram
Cheers!
