The Great Flood of 2010

The day we were moving, it was raining – but it didn’t really start coming down hard until we were done unloading. Someone then noted that it was good thing we were done, as water from the rain was approaching the curb for the sidewalk. Next day, our basement flooded from more rain, but we thought that this was due to our own drain being clogged.

Well, it rained again last night and this time it was clear that this was not just our problem. It really started coming down around 8 pm and by 10.30 pm this is what our sidewalk looked like. Luckily, the city came out around 11 pm, although we are still not sure whether the actual problem with the drainage system was resolved.

Ah the joys of homeownership.
